Located in the heart of the Texas Hill Country, Our Texas Backyard gives you the opportunity to take a peek through the windows of James and Windy Lanzl. Take a "virtual" nature walk through their gallery of fabulous photos taken right outside their front door.
"Our world can be such a busy place it's easy to overlook the beauty around us. Every day God offers us delightful gifts wrapped up in His creation. Those gifts may be in the form of a tiny
wildflower you've never noticed before; or possibly the glimpse of a nighthawk at dusk; or even that strange bug with the wierd snout."
The conviction of those words can be seen in every image captured by the cameras of this husband and wife team. Through their lenses the majesty of the simplest of flowers is lovingly revealed; the creepiest of insects becomes a work of art; and the most timid of Texas wildlife quickly becomes your close friend.
In addition to photography, James Lanzl has found another outlet for his creativity; stone sculptures. His love of carving was, for years, a hobby that filled his home and garden with unique treasures. That love eventually spilled over into the homes of friends and family. Now he offers his unique, one-of-a-kind sculptures to all his fellow nature lovers. Though he occassionally lists precarved stones for sale, the majority of his work is commissioned one piece at a time. In a world of concrete molds and sandblasted stones, James offers a rare opportunity to enjoy singular works of art at incredibly affordable prices.
